Most are named in the National Register listing only by their archaeological site codes, but there were three named sites in Carbon County: Cottonwood Village, Drop-Dead Ruin, and First Canyon Site.

The next number is the site code.

This format uses a facility code also called a site code.

One side effect of this site security mechanism is that if an employee transfers between sites, all that needs to be done by the transferring site records department is to change the site code to the new site.
