The Redevelopment Commission recently agreed to hire the Architectural Planning and Research Laboratory of the University of Michigan to study the re-use potential.

"There are two main goals we want to accomplish," said Jesse R. Goodale 3d, a Riverhead businessman who heads the Calverton Air Facility Joint Planning and Redevelopment Commission, a regional advisory group appointed by the town.

Riverhead's appointment of the Calverton Air Facility Joint Planning and Redevelopment Commission met a requirement of the Federal legislation.

"This would be a mass transit project and the masses are in West Haven where the station would benefit far more people than it would in Orange," said Mr. Mercuriano, who served on the city's Redevelopment Commission for 11 years.

Albert R. St. Clair, executive director of the newly formed Mobile Downtown Redevelopment Commission, said the city is working with Charles K. Brelant Jr., who bought the 200-room Sheraton Hotel four blocks from the convention-center site, on finding funds to restore the building.

The boards and commissions are as follows: Advisory Plan Commission, Parks Board, Advisory Utility Board, Redevelopment Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, and Fire Board.

The Redevelopment Commission affords the Town a maximum opportunity for rehabilitation, redevelopment, or economic development areas by private enterprise and the Town.

In the 1960's the Stamford Redevelopment Commission selected the F. D. Rich Company as the sole developer of the city's downtown area and helped change the face of the city by constructing dozens of office towers, department stores and apartment buildings.

He also served on the Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Commission, the Sacramento County Air Pollution Control Advisory Board, and the North Sacramento Community Plan Citizens Advisory Committee.

It is jointly run by the city of Valparaiso and the Valparaiso Redevelopment Commission, with substantial financial support from the Northwest Indiana Regional Development Authority.
