Deep Lake is the only one of two campgrounds on the trail without permanent or semi-permanent shelter.

Deep Lake includes an outside cooking area, bear proof lockers for food, and a small number of campsites.

To the east was the fabulous Lehmann home, a stucco castle built in 1888 overlooking Deep Lake.
